AEW Rampage: 2/4/2022

credit from: 411Mania

It’s Friday, which means it’s time for another episode of AEW Rampage! Amazing matches throughout and an impassioned promo from one of AEW’s top stars so without further delay, let’s get to it!

Match 1: Adam Cole vs Evil Uno. (Rating : 2.75/5)

It is, indeed; all about the boom! Here comes Adam Cole (Bay Bay) to face off against my favorite member of the Dark Order, Evil Uno (apart from the late great Mr. Brodie Lee, may God rest his soul.) And the match was basically a high profile squash match as Cole immediately hit Uno with the exposed knee to the back of the head, aka The Boom. After the match, Cole took to the mic and basically declared that he’s indeed going on the hunt to become AEW World Heavyweight champion after explaining that he has yet to be taken serious in All Elite Wrestling and how he was world champion everywhere he want; and honestly I can’t wait to see Hangman take on Cole in the near future for the AEW world title! It’ll be both men’s best match of 2022 without a doubt.

Match 2: Mercedes Martinez vs Thunder Rosa. (Rating: 3.5/5)

Time for Martinez to have her debut match in AEW and what a way to make a statement than by taking on the most over babyface that the AEW women’s division has to offer! This match was really great and both women went back and forth but unfortunately it was cut short as Martinez hit Rosa with a weapon, ending the match in disqualification (which was actually the first time in AEW history that a match has ended in DQ). For the short time we saw both women wrestle, it was really fun and a rematch is supposed to be scheduled for next week so hopefully Thunder Rosa picks up the win in order to build her up as Britt Baker’s next challenger for the AEW women’s championship.

Match 3: TNT Championship; Sammy Guevara (c) vs Isaiah Cassidy. (Rating: 4/5)

Without a doubt the match of the night. Sammy really delivers great match after match weekly, regardless of who the opponent is but Private Party’s Isaiah Cassidy was not an easy task as he really did seem like a formidable foe. Both men are very similar in wrestling as both are notorious for high flying offense and really breathtaking spots but at the end of the day Guevara retained his TNT championship after hitting Cassidy with the GTH finisher for the pinfall victory. After the match, the rest of the Hardy Family Office, including Andrade El Idolo, charged into the ring and were ready to attack Sammy up until fellow Inner Circle member Chris Jericho was ready to make his way to the ring until Darby Allin ran in and made the save, possibly teasing a possible team up between both Allin and Guevara against Andrade and the rest of the HFO.

Main Event: FTW Championship; Ricky Starks (c) vs Jay Lethal. (Rating: 4/5)

Wow, what a way to close the show. Without a doubt this was the best match that Starks has had not only as FTW champion but also in his entire AEW career. He went out there and faced one of the greatest wrestlers of this generation in Jay Lethal and actually won CLEANLY! After Lethal sprung off the ropes attempting to hit his finisher on the champion, Starks ended up countering the move with his finisher known as the Buster Keaton, which is basically a double underhook facebuster for the pinfall victory.

Final Rating: 4/5
