AEW Rampage: 1/28/2022

credit from: TNT

It’s Friday, and you know what that means! Time for another jam-packed AEW Rampage. With how great Dynamite went this past Wednesday, tonight’s show will certainly cap another good week for professional wrestling as a whole before Saturday’s Royal Rumble show. Let’s not waste any more time and get in the action!

Match 1: Jon Moxley vs Anthony Bowens. (3/5)

Really great seeing Moxley wrestle again and just do what he does best: destroy everybody on his path. This time he took on the Acclaimed’s Anthony Bowens in a really great match. Once again this wasn’t a one sided match as Bowens really did get the better of Moxley in some occasions, however one Paradigm Shift later Moxley picks up the pinfall victory against Anthony as AEW continues to build up this feud between Bryan Danielson and Mox after Danielson was seen checking out the match in the backstage area. Welcome back once more, Moxley! You haven’t missed a step.

Match 2: Tag Team match; FTR vs Lee Johnson and Brock Anderson. (Rating: 2.75/5)

It’s about time FTR’s wrestling on tv again! Not only that but this is also a good opportunity to see Brock wrestle on tv as well and up against a well established tag team as FTR is. This was a quick and fun match, even Tully Blanchard and the Enforcer Arn Anderson got involved in the action. The match was won by FTR after hitting a Piledriver combination on Johnson for the pin. I wouldn’t mind seeing this four running it again on another episode of Rampage, or even Dynamite with some sort of stipulation attached to it.

Main Event: AEW Tag Team Championship match; Jurassic Express (c) vs Private Party. (Rating: 4/5)

Once again the tag champs defend their titles on Rampage and just as last week’s episode of Rampage, it stole the show and was easily the match of the night. Private Party have yet to capture the AEW tag team titles but once they do, they’ll definitely deserve a run. The match started off hot as immediately Private Party hit Jungle Boy with the Gin and Juice finisher but was only a two count. Lately these teams have really started to try to isolate Jungle Boy by making sure the muscle of the Jurassic Express, Luchasaurus, is out of commission and not a problem in the matches. However with an assisted sit down powerbomb from Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy picks the win for his team and thus retaining the tag titles: up until Gunn Club came down and decimated the tag champions, indicating that indeed they’re next in line for Jack Perry and Luchasaurus’ straps. Real solid way to end an already solid show.

Final rating: 4/5
